Analyzing
professional money
managers can be a time consuming and bewildering
task. It requires access to a broad base of
money manager data and the expertise to understand
each individual money manager's investment style in
order to properly evaluate its investment performance.Utilizing
the right money managers is critical to realizing
investment goals. A poor mix of money managers can
lead to substandard investment performance or an
increase in risk. In addition, replacing
managers for the wrong reasons can disrupt the
management of an account and result in needless
additional expense without any improvement in
performance. In
preparing for a Manager Evaluation, IPEX will try and
gather as much information as possible from all members
of the client's investment committee. A client's
investment objectives, asset allocations, risk
tolerance, and most importantly the client's mix of
managers, are all factors that IPEX considers in
analyzing the client's current management team. After
IPEX completes its evaluation of a client's current
money managers, we prepare a comprehensive, written
analysis. The document analyzes each manager's
investment style, asset allocation, return, risk, and
risk-adjusted returns. Benchmarks (indices) are
used to provide the client with a method of evaluating
the relative performance of the managers. In
addition, IPEX compares the managers to a peer group of
real world managers, a money manager universe, that has
the same investment style. Most importantly, IPEX
analyzes all of a client's money managers in relation to
each other, to determine whether the client has the
appropriate level of diversification. When
IPEX performs a Manager Evaluation, IPEX helps clients
to fulfill their fiduciary responsibilities by ensuring
that thy receive comprehensive, accurate and objective
information, from an independent firm, on all aspects of
their money managers performance. As IPEX is
unaffiliated with any money management organization, clients
can be assured that IPEX will be completely unbiased in
performing a Manager Evaluation. In addition, as
IPEX does not provide managers with the name of the
organization requesting the information, the evaluation
would be prepared on a purely confidential basis,
further enhancing its objectivity.
